The importance of having a highly flexible CRM system in a higher education setting

The higher education market is unique. Your CRM solution needs to be able to easily adapt to meet the needs of students and staff.

  • Adapting to Evolving Student Needs: The higher education landscape is constantly changing, with evolving student expectations and preferences. A flexible CRM allows institutions to quickly adapt their recruitment strategies and communication methods to meet these changing needs.

  • Handling Diverse Institutions: Higher education institutions vary widely in size, type, and focus. A flexible CRM can accommodate the unique requirements of different institutions, from small colleges to large public universities, to highly specialised institutions.

  • Integrating with Existing Systems: Institutions often have existing systems for applicants, student records, and other functions. A flexible CRM can seamlessly integrate with these systems, providing a unified view of student data and eliminating redundant tasks.

  • Customizing Workflows: Different institutions may have unique recruitment processes and workflows. A flexible CRM allows institutions to customize their system to match their specific needs, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Scaling with Growth: As institutions grow, or the need to reach to other audiences increases, their communications efforts may need to scale accordingly. A flexible CRM can easily accommodate increased volume and complexity, ensuring that the system remains effective as the institutions needs evolve and grow.

  • Future-Proofing Technology: Higher education institutions need to invest in technology that will serve them well into the future. A flexible CRM can be adapted to accommodate new technologies and trends, ensuring that the institution remains competitive and efficient.

What does the University of Warwick think about the flexibility of Azorus?

It's the flexibility of the system that is my favourite.

What are your favourite features of Azorus and how does it help your team achieve your goals?

It’s the flexibility of the system that is my favourite. The fact that you can tweak HTML, CSS and Javascript, if you know what you’re doing, to bend, stretch and persuade every element to look or behave how you want it to. And if you’re not geeky enough, our account manager is and we’ll often get a solution in days if not hours.

This flexibility allows us to say yes much more often than we’d like to obscure and new requests. It means that it’s nearly always possible to build what a colleague needs…and often much more than they think they need.

What is a problem that you have solved creatively using Azorus, that perhaps you did not know you could?

A non-student recruitment project I’m particularly proud of is the National Scientific Thinking Challenge. This is a project to allow schools to anonymously enter pupils for an online science challenge which ranks them along with other pupils across state and public schools…giving them the opportunity to demonstrate they are in the top 10% despite their academic and social backgrounds.

We use Azorus to promote, register and record scores…then we generate tens of thousands of personalized PDF certificates to automatically send to teachers…a task that was wholly manual and incredibly time consuming a couple of years ago. This year we’ve increased from an original 2,000 pupils to an expected 28,000.
