Eastern Illinois University Selects Azorus CRM

Azorus Inc. (www.azorus.com), CRM software and services firm focused exclusively in the higher education market is pleased to announce that they have partnered with Eastern Illinois University (EIU) to deliver CRM services to their prospective students.

In 2008, EIU received Yield Management services from Azorus and saw immediate results, generating more than 100 new enrolled students; raising their overall yield by 1% and incoming ACT by 1 point. As a result of this success EIU developed an RFP for a CRM platform capable of automated emails, personalized student portals, natural language FAQ, social media tools, and ongoing support services such as email reputation management. Azorus was selected from a list of potential vendors to deliver these capabilities.

Brenda Major, Director of Admissions for EIU, explains why Azorus chosen above the rest. "Selecting Azorus came down to a number of factors. We believed throughout the entire process that we were viewed at all levels of their organization to be a valued customer and that our needs were to be addressed by the entire company. The capabilities that Azorus provides, along with their reputation for excellence, gives us confidence that we will soon be providing a higher degree of personalization, automation, and relevant material to our future students than any other school in the region."

University of Houston signs up for the Azorus Yield Management Program for the second year

Azorus Inc. (www.azorus.com), a CRM software and services firm focused exclusively on the higher education market is pleased to announce that the University of Houston (UH) has signed up for the Azorus Yield Management Program for the second year.

In April 2008, UH contracted with Azorus to extend their connection with admitted students. The university did not have the ability to easily segment their admitted student pool and had limited capabilities communicating with students and parents through the summer and was keen to outsource the effort to a recruitment partner.

In executing a similar program to last year, the university will be able to deliver personalized and branded email messages to their accepted student population. The messages that will be delivered and tracked, are segmented on the key recruitment areas defined by the University of Houston's strategic plan.

On behalf of UH, Azorus will deliver meaningful content to students throughout the summer months. The messages received by each student will be unique based on that student profile. By tracking each communication, and the results of click-through and opens on an individual student basis, UH will be able to analyze the data to understand who is truly engaged and take appropriate action as the fall term approaches.

The result of this program in the fall of 2008 was a 4.4% increase in the previous conversion of accepted students.

"Having Azorus execute a very similar program again this year was a given" says Jeff Fuller, Director of Recruitment at UH. "The entire Azorus team was great to work with and the results we had last year exceeded our expectations. Focusing on yield conversion is somewhat new for us and the work Azorus did last year was certainly beneficial to our institution, but it also added exceptional value for our incoming students."

Azorus Inc., a CRM software and services firm focused exclusively on the higher education market is pleased to announce that Tacoma Community College, in Washington State, has selected the company's CRM solution. This suite of CRM capabilities will help the college track and manage students from initial point of contact through enrollment.

With the recent completion of a communications mapping process, Tacoma Community College requires the capability to execute various messages to their prospective student audiences in a personalized manner. Azorus has been tasked with building a communication strategy that contains a series of emails and personalized portals to ensure that each student receives the correct communication as they consider college options.

Dale Stowell, director of marketing and communication at the college points out, "Previously, no one entity or department was managing the overall enrollment and communications process. Selection of Azorus enables us to execute both processes from within a single solution."

Tacoma is experiencing a decline in the number of available prospective students, in part due to families moving to more rural locations. Dolores Haugen, who is the director of enrollment management at the college, says that "Being able to maximize the recruitment efforts within the confines of the city, as well as in outskirt destinations, are vital to Tacoma Community College's enrollment strategy."

The adoption of the Azorus solution offers college executives not only recruitment tools, but also the ability to generate critical data to empower data-driven decision making for future strategy.

Like many institutions, Tacoma Community College was concerned about the potential impact a CRM project could have on staff resources.
St. Francis Xavier University; Building a Strong CRM System One Step at a Time

Azorus Inc., a CRM software and services firm focused exclusively on the higher education market is pleased to announce that St. Francis Xavier University (StFX), one of Canada's top undergraduate universities, is building on the success of last year's recruitment efforts with Digital Recruit by acquiring the entire suite of CRM capabilities from Azorus.

StFX began the fall 2007 recruiting cycle using the Azorus Digital Recruit solution to capture prospective student information electronically and automatically deliver email to students immediately following a recruitment event. Having been able to personalize the response to 3000 prospective students the same day they met them, StFX has tasked Azorus to take them to the next level of personalized student recruitment.

StFX's Director of Admissions and Recruitment, Robb Parker voices "ensuring that our entire recruitment effort is personalized to each student is critical to us retaining our high profile. The Digital Recruit solution certainly helped us enhance our presence with today's students and adopting the Azorus CRM system in its entirety allows us to not only build on that level of personalization, but also to streamline many other internal processes."

In a province with a declining prospective student population, along with ten other universities, competition for students is fierce. For StFX, the Azorus CRM system will not only allow them to do a better job wrapping their arms around these students, but to also foster relationships with students in other markets. Says Parker, "Being able to maintain the percentage of Nova Scotia students is vital to our institutional philosophy. In order to do that, we believe that Azorus will offer us a competitive advantage in terms of speed and personalization, which combined, will put us as a first choice for students in the region."

While maintaining a regional balance is important, other markets are clearly in their crosshairs. As summarized by Parker, "The allure of the Azorus platform is the ability to build not only better relationships, but more of them. Being able to deliver equally high levels of service to students in other countries, two provinces away, or down the street will ultimately help us demonstrate what students should expect once they get here."

Azorus Solution Enables The University of Warwick to Enhance the Prospective Student Experience ...

Azorus Inc., a leader in marketing focused Customer Relationship Management software directed exclusively at the higher education market announced today that The University of Warwick has selected the company's CRM enquiry management system to help the University optimise its overall recruiting efforts. The Azorus solution is a powerful yet easy to use system that enables a recruitment office to customise and automate communications directed at prospective students using the company's portal capabilities as well as a host of other electronic based communications tools designed for today's Digital Native students.

Richard Harrison, Events and Enquiries Manager at The University of Warwick states, "the Azorus solution is exactly what we need to take the next step in our overall e-recruiting strategy. Our website is a critical element in our marketing mix and its importance is only increasing. With the ability now to personalise and tailor information we will be able to establish meaningful relationships during the recruiting cycle improving our ability to attract the right students. Today's students have very high demands of university websites and their expectation of instantaneous information delivered to them on their terms is only increasing. For Warwick, we will for the first time be able to automate a number of tasks but most importantly, they will be personalised to the individual students needs' this is truly a breakthrough for our recruiting office".

"In a time of heightened competition for institutions in the UK and around the world, universities must be able to utilize the web to its full potential and achieve increased operational efficiencies. This is what The University of Warwick has recognized and they are clearly among the leaders in the United Kingdom in the area of specialized e-recruiting." states Stephen MacDonald, CEO of Azorus. The University of Warwick has recognized this challenge and as leaders sought out a best of breed solution to ensure the needs of the institution are met today and into the future. After an exhaustive review, Azorus was awarded this important contract which will enable Warwick to provide these essential capabilities with the result being both more and better students who will successfully graduate from the institution.

"To students considering their university options, the web has become the most important tool in their search process. Students today are incredibly web savvy and demanding of the web sites they visit. If you try the one size fits all approach, students will simply pass you by", states MacDonald of Azorus. He goes on to add, "the amount of information a student has to wade through on a typical university website is incredible. The future for universities who rely on the web for recruiting will be based on personalised interest driven content for its visitors. In other words, give the prospective student visiting the site information that is meaningful and relevant to them". The Azorus solution is focused on providing rich and relevant interest driven content to prospective students through the students own personal web portal. Moreover, Azorus provides its clients with advanced tools to arm an admissions office with the ability to mass customise and automate communications and effectively track the flow of information between the institution and prospective students. The Azorus solution will also be integrated with SITS, Warwick's Student Information System providing seamless communications and student status management for the Admissions Office.

Azorus launches Yield Management services for Eastern Illinois University and the University of ...

Azorus Inc., a CRM software and services firm focused exclusively on the higher education market is pleased to announce that Eastern Illinois University and the University of Houston have both selected Azorus to help improve their yield rates through utilizing the Azorus Yield Management Program; a module of the company's advanced Customer Relationship Management (CRM) suite. The Yield Management program from Azorus offers higher education institutions a way to effectively wrap their arms around accepted students in the last phase of the recruitment cycle. Institutions seek to increase their historical yield numbers by segmenting their accepted student populations and having Azorus deliver key messages to each segment throughout the conventional "summer melt" period when accepted students mysteriously disappear and simply do not show for their first day of class. This summer melt, which has a direct effect on institutional yield, has become a growing concern with the increase in the number of "stealth applicants prospective students the institution first meets when an application is received.

Prior to signing with Azorus, Eastern Illinois University (EIU) were working towards a communications strategy for their accepted students but were not able to execute a plan that delivered targeted messages to unique segments of their accepted pool. As Brenda Major, Director of Admissions, says "With nearly 40% of our incoming freshmen being first generation students, we need a way to more effectively inform them through the important summer months why an EIU education and experience would be a valued life experience for them." Major continues by saying that "another unique goal is for us to change the demographics of our institution to a small degree. We seek to gradually increase our freshmen class from 60% to 70% and having Azorus assist us with communicating with students and helping us focus on who is truly engaged, we feel will be a huge asset in converting those extra 100 students."

For Jeff Fuller, Director of Admissions at the University of Houston (UH), the mandate is somewhat different.

Fuller says, "This is the first year we've been able to focus on Yield. Despite its importance, this is the first time we've been able to segment our database, deliver relevant communications to each segment, and most importantly report back on student interest to help refine our final recruitment efforts. For UH, enhancing the profile of the school is a key mandate and enrolling top tier students is critical. Azorus is helping us focus on students with high SAT scores and who graduated high school in the top 20% of their class. Historically, we have 48% of our freshmen in this category and we seek to push that over 50%."

Although each institution has unique goals, choosing Azorus to help with increasing yield was due to a common factor. As Major said, "When we were contacted by Azorus they exemplified all we want in a vendor. They were exceptionally personable in their approach; they had done a lot of research on our situation and had some excellent suggestions out of the gate. We immediately felt a trust and sensed that they sought to partner with us."

Top Undergraduate University now top of class at High School Recruiting Events

St. Francis Xavier University (St.FX), one of Canada's top undergraduate universities, located in Antigonish, Nova Scotia records surge in interest and increase in their ability to deliver timely communications to prospective students by using Azorus' Digital Recruit solution.

St.FX began the busy fall recruiting cycle using Digital Recruit to capture prospective student information electronically and automatically deliver email to students immediately following an event. During the first 2 weeks of the season, StFX sent 5 of their recruiters to high schools across the country with digital pens provided by Azorus. Having attended more than 30 high school visits in those first 2 weeks, the institution was able to capture information, and deliver personalized emails to more than 400 prospective students automatically!

While previously unable to track high school recruiting event data, Robb Parker, the Director of Admissions at StFX, insists that the real value of the solution is in the increased ability to deliver better, more timely communications to students. "When attending high school events the emphasis can often be to just give the student information. Telling students about the institution, and offering them print material, is important but so too is collecting the students' information so that we might deliver additional information to them in a medium they are certain to review", says Robb. "The Digital Recruit system allows us to easily capture the student's information and then show true appreciation for their interest in us by delivering a well crafted and appropriate email to the student immediately following the event."

The process of inputting student address cards into the system previously took a lot of time and effort and did not ensure that students received a timely response. StFX recruiters now upload student records following an event with almost no data entry and deliver a personalized email within hours of speaking with the student. To have the system operational for the fall cycle, forms were designed and printed, emails drafted, the system configured, and training delivered to StFX staff within 7 weeks of engaging Azorus.

Shirlyn Aker, one of St.FX's recruiters says, "At the end of the day we review the student records, make any minor edits, and with a simple login are able to upload all the student information from the day. Once complete, we know that all the students are moments away from receiving a personalized message from the recruiter they spoke with earlier that day."

In addition to offering students better communications, the tool has created a lot of buzz at the high schools they have visited. "Students take the cap off the pen and it vibrates a little. They often are taken aback and when we tell them what happens when they fill out a form, they look at the pen to see the tiny camera inside it, look back at us and say "COOL!", says Shirlyn. "The digital pens certainly are an attention getter."

Consistently being ranked as one of Canada's top undergraduate universities does not, however, permit StFX to rest on its laurels. "We need to continue to be leaders and find innovative ways to show students how unique our institution is", says Robb. "Ensuring that our entire recruitment effort is personalized to each student we meet is critical to us retaining such a high profile and the Digital Recruit system is certainly helping us enhance our presence with today's students."

St.FX, Canada's #1 Undergraduate University to use Digital Recruit from Azorus Inc

Azorus Inc., a Halifax based software and services firm focused exclusively on the higher education market today announced that St. Francis Xavier University (StFX), located in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, has signed an agreement to deploy the Azorus Digital Recruit solution to assist the university with its upcoming recruiting campaign.

Digital Recruit is a highly innovative solution developed by Azorus that utilizes a Digital Pen and a specialized paper form that captures student information at University Fairs and during high school visits. The Digital Recruit system selected by StFX is linked to the Azorus Customer Relationship Management (CRM) suite of tools that engages students instantly with personalized emails and communications from the university.

St.FX is only the second university in North America to leverage this highly innovative solution from Azorus with the other institution being Ryerson University of Toronto. Robb Parker, Director of Admissions at StFX played a major role in the selection of this solution from Azorus. The collection of student information for universities and colleges during high school visits has been the same way for decades. Students fill out an inquiry card which then must be manually entered into a database at which point we would then send that student an information package. It is slow, inefficient and clearly does not meet the needs of today's web savvy students. Digital Recruit eliminates manual data entry entirely! Each Digital Pen holds several hundred student records and once the recruiter connects to the Internet the data is uploaded to the Azorus CRM system at which point we instantly connect with students via email. We can then engage the student and send them personalized information. One of the most important aspects of recruiting today's students.

This award winning solution from Azorus really addresses a sore point for Universities and Colleges. "Today's students are the most technologically advanced and demanding students in history. They expect instantaneous responses and more importantly, responses that are personalized to their interests and needs", states Stephen MacDonald, CEO for Azorus. "Technology is the only way to address these demands and we have found the right combination that still allows a student to fill out an inquiry card but all of the information is immediately digitized. Some universities we talk to say that by the time the traditional inquiry card has been filled out by a student, it could be weeks before that student receives anything from the institution. Clearly an unacceptable timeline if you are 17 years old and thinking about university." The Digital Recruit solution addresses three primary business issues; it automates a typically manual business process, it can save time and money for the university and it definitely increases student satisfaction providing the university with a competitive edge.

StFX has been Canada's #1 primarily undergraduate University for the last 5 years as ranked by Maclean's magazine. According to the Maclean's magazine rankings, the work to strengthen the University's attraction is receiving national recognition. StFX leads its category in entering averages, national reputation, and alumni support. Indeed, StFX has enjoyed the highest percentage of alumni support for all universities in Canada for the past 6 years.

Digital Recruit Released to the Higher Ed Market

Azorus Inc. has just announced the release of Digital Recruit, their innovative new technology that instantly connects higher education recruiters with new prospects.

Digital Recruit allows recruiters to initiate electronic communication with prospects within minutes of making contact. Student data is captured digitally as the prospect fills out an inquiry card, it is uploaded via the Field Tool and an automated welcome email to that prospect is triggered. Contact is swift and efficient, manual data entry is eliminated and the recruiter makes a favorable impression on the prospect.

Azorus CEO Stephen MacDonald believes Digital Recruit will give institutions the edge in the highly competitive education marketplace.

"Digital Recruit is all about being first - first to bring this technology to prospects, first to establish contact, first to send communications and ultimately being the first school on the prospect's mind. This is a win-win solution for institutions and their prospects."

Digital Recruit was designed to function independently of institutions' current IT infrastructure. Azorus can also host the solution. Digital Recruit will be available across North America, the U.K. and Europe.

Digital Recruit will be available across North America, the U.K. and Europe.

Azorus Recruitment Management System Selected for use by Washington State Colleges

Azorus Inc., a software and services company providing sophisticated e-recruitment tools to the higher education market announced today that the company has been awarded the contract for the State of Washington's 34 community & technical colleges on an optional use basis. After a rigorous three-month vendor evaluation process, Azorus was chosen out of a field of 12 vendors to make its services available under this contract.

A group of colleges formed a committee to determine what was required to assist the schools going forward from a recruitment perspective. Vendors who responded to the RFP were evaluated using a detailed scorecard system. Azorus received the highest overall score.

Azorus CEO Stephen MacDonald is very pleased by the outcome. "This contract is a testament to our reputation as a company serving colleges & universities," says MacDonald. "We have worked very hard over the last few years to ensure our software meets the needs of the higher education market. We are proud of our level of customer care, which enables us to create and maintain critical and long lasting relationships with our clients. The due diligence process exercised by the state was tough but fair, and now we are extremely excited to start working with the State's colleges."

Jack Huls, VP of Student Services for Peninsula College, was chair of the vendor evaluation committee. "The Azorus solution gives us incredible flexibility to reach our varied audiences, and also represents a platform on which we intend to build future functionality."

Having seen what Azorus has done, Huls says he believes the committee made the right choice. "The technology that Azorus provides allows us to reach and interact with students on a one-to-one basis - something that otherwise would not be possible."

The State of Washington's community and technical colleges serve almost 500,000 students from all parts of the state and offer students a vast array of educational options.
